A third pilot episode for what could be picked up as a television series is slated to film in Wilmington this spring.
Called “Red Zone,” a CBS project produced by NBC/Universal, the pilot joins two others previously announced: FX’s “How and Why” and ABC’s “Secrets & Lies,” the latter of which is set to start filming later this month.
Bill Vassar, executive vice president of EUE/Screen Gems Studios, mentioned the new pilot at a panel discussion Monday. He said the project is slated to start filming this spring.
Multiple media outlets are reporting the pilot will be written and co-produced by Nikki Toscano, a producer on ABC’s “Revenge,” which filmed its pilot episode in Southport in 2011.
“Red Zone” is the fifth project set to film in Wilmington in 2014. In addition to “How and Why” and “Secrets & Lies”—the former starring John Hawkes and Michael Cera; the latter starring Ryan Phillippe—productions signed on to open offices at the studios include CBS’s “Under the Dome” and Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” both of which are returning to film their second seasons.
