A Pender County man was killed in a collision at a Burgaw intersection Thursday.
The wreck occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Cora’s Grove Road and Penderlea Highway, according to N.C. State Highway Patrol Sgt. M.L. Collier.
The victim in the wreck–74-year-old Elbert Morgan, Jr., of Rocky Point–was pronounced dead at Pender Memorial Hospital.
Ironia Harris, 51, of Burgaw, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Harris, who was traveling east on Cora’s Grove Road, ran through a stop sign and collided with Morgan’s pickup truck, which was headed north on Penderlea Highway, Collier said.
Harris was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening, Collier said.
