Ray Lander Smith, 71, very active in the Pender County Shrine Club

Ray Lander Smith, a 33° Mason in the Palmyra Masonic Lodge #147 in Dunn, of Rocky Point, died on Oct. 27, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 71 years old.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Scottish Rite, very active in the Pender County Shrine Club and was a member of the Hanover Seaside Club. He was employed with Babcock & Wilcox for many years prior to his retirement from McLean Trucking Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Bryant Smith and Rosa Lee Permenter Smith and sister, Peggy Lockamy.

Surviving are his daughters, Deanna Swart, Tammy Skipper (William), Wendy Smith and Julia Smith; grandchildren, Adrienne King, Kelli Swart, Samantha Skipper and Krissy Swart; sisters, Blondell Abrams, Faydene Corbett, Mickey Turlington and Janice Stone; twin brother, Jay L. Smith (Geraldine); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with Masonic Rites being accorded.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals For Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
