Sewer work to close portion of 16th Street on Sunday

Sewer repairs will close 16th Street in Wilmington between Ann and Church streets Sunday, Sept. 8. Traffic will be detoured beginning at 9 a.m.

CFPUA logoCrews with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will be conducting two repairs in the 300 and 400 blocks of 16th Street, which will be closed to all traffic as work is being conducted.

Traffic will be detoured via Ann, Church and 15th streets (See map below). The work is expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Sunday.

At the same time, the CFPUA will be placing a new water main extension across the main entrance to Eaton Elementary School, in the 6700 block of Gordon Road in Wilmington.

The repair is not expected to affect area traffic but is scheduled Sunday so as not to affect access to the school during school hours, according to a release from the CFPUA. Water service to the school will not be impacted.
