Keith Rendleman, who already owns a basketball rack full of honors, is still collecting basketball accolades after closing out his collegiate career and graduating from UNCW last month.

Keith Rendleman became the first Seahawk to average a double-double in back-to-back seasons.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Rendleman has been named to the first team on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association All-State unit. The versatile performer has been working out with several National Basketball Association (NBA) teams over the past few weeks in preparation for the upcoming NBA draft on Thursday, June 27.

Rendleman, from Iron Station, averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds en route to First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors for the second year in a row in 2012-13. He finished his four-year stay in Wilmington with 1,516 points and 1,055 rebounds, ranking fourth all-time in scoring and first in rebounding for the Seahawks.

Summer baseball update

A number of Diamond Hawks are scattered all over this summer as they get their work in to make another NCAA Tournament run in 2014.

Evan Phillips is pitching for Laconia of the NECBL this summer.

William Prince, RHP (Morehead City (CPL)) – Has made four appearances, all in relief for the Marlins. Prince has limited his opponents to a .115 batting average

Ryan Foster, RHP (Winchester (Valley League)) – Has made two appearances with the Royals. Foster struck out seven in his last appearance in three innings and stands at 1-1, with a 3.11 ERA, while opponents are hitting a meager .138 against him.

Evan Phillips, RHP (Laconia (NECBL)) – Made summer debut for the Muskrats and allowed just one run over 4.2 innings. Phillips scattered two hits, but walked six and struck out six.

Jared Gesell, RHP (Kernersville (CVCL)) – In five appearances, including two starts, Gesell has a 1.62 ERA and .226 opp bavg.  He’s struck out 11 in 13 innings and is 1-0 on the summer.

Nick Monroe, RHP (Wilson (CPL)) – Has made four appearances for the Tobs after joining the staff late following the Seahawks NCAA tournament appearance. Monroe struggled with command in his first three outings before rebounding with a shutout appearance against Peninsula. In four outings, he has no record, a 6.23 ERA and opponents are hitting .278 against him.

Will Shepley, LHP (Wilmington (CPL)) – Has appeared in just one CPL game and allowed three hits over 2.2 innings.

Gavin Stupienski, C (Hornel (NYCBL)) – After red-shirting as a freshman, Stupienski has returned to action and is hitting .136 in 22 at bats for the Dodgers. He’s doubled once and drawn four walks.

Joe Bertone, OF (Lake Norman (SCBL)) – Is hitting .294 through 17 at bats and is tied for the team lead with seven walks. Bertone has two doubles and a triple among his five hits.
