As part of the nonprofit Cape Fear Economic Development Council’s “CFEDC Presents” series, the “New Year’s Resolutions 2013″ dialogue will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the WHQR gallery at 235 N. Front St., downtown Wilmington.

A 6 p.m. social with drinks and refreshments will precede.

“The panel discussion is a chance for the public to hear an influential and diverse panel of local leaders talk about what they envision for this region this year, what they’re working on, and how we can help achieve it,” a press release said.

Expected to attend are UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller, Wilmington Arts Council Executive Director Rhonda Bellamy, Rep. Catlin (R-New Hanover), Wilmington Chamber of Commerce President Connie Majure-Rhette, CoWorx CEO Bryan Kristof and South East Area Health Education Center Associate Director Brett Waress.

“The purpose of the event is not to dwell on shortcomings or crow about small victories,” said CFEDC Chairman Mark King, “but rather to look forward at questions of local governance, opportunities for economic development, improvements to our quality of life….”

“Under the tongue-in-cheek rubric of ‘resolutions’, the panelists are empowered to take the conversation wherever they believe it should go.”
