(25-12, 25-3, 25-8)
Led by senior Brandi Thomas and junior middle hitter Felecity Havens, the Ashley volleyball team continued its dominance in conference with a 3-0 win over New Hanover. The Screaming Eagles are ranked No. 16 in the state, with an 11-3 overall record, (4-0 in conference).
Emily Kirby led the Wildcats with three kills and five digs; Erica Vohwinkel added 6 assists. New Hanover fell to 3-8 with the loss and 1-4 in league play.

Hoggard 3 New Bern 2
In what could be a preview of a conference tournament match later on this season, the Vikings prevailed in five games to beat New Bern Tuesday night on the road, 3-2. Hoggard evened up its Mid-eastern league record (2-2), and improved to 10-2 overall on the year.
Next up: The Vikings will play at New Hanover Thursday
Rose 3 Laney 0
(25-9, 25-20, 25-16)
The Lady Bucs were flat from the start Tuesday in a 3-0 defeat to J.H. Rose. Laney dropped to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in conference. Next up: @ Ashley, Thursday 9/27
Topsail 3 Northside 0
(25-8, 25-8, 25-8)
The two-time defending East Central Conference champs are unbeaten in league play so far this year following a 3-0 win over Northside. Jenna Register led the Topsail attack with 11 points and eight assists. Senior Carlie Smith added six points, three aces, seven kills and had one block, while senior Angie Poage recorded 13 assists in the win. The Lady Pirates are 13-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference.

Pender 3 Union 0
(25-17, 25-10, 25-18)
The Pender Patriots extended its 1-A Tri-Conference record to 9-0 on the year, 11-4 overall, with a superior performance over Union Tuesday, 3-0. The senior class for Pender continued to shine as Senior Kayvia Thompson served up 11 aces in the win, and fell just short of a double-double with nine kills. Seniors Jackie Sanabria and Katy Stewart set the table for the Patriots with 22 assists (10 Sanabria, 12 Stewart).

Lakewood 3 Trask 0
(25-15, 25-6, 25-23)
The Titans played on the road at Lakewood Tuesday and fell in straight sets, 3-0. Trask dropped to 3-5 on the year (3-4) in conference. Katelyn Andreassen had five points and two kills and Rachel Wilson added six kills for Trask. Anna Brodmerkel recorded five assists and Kassidy Tyer had 12 digs.
Trask will take on Wallace-Rose at home Thursday.
West Brunswick 3 Whiteville 1
(25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21)
Senior Alex Wickel had a team-high 16 points and seven aces for the Trojans as West Brunswick defeated Whiteville, 3-0. Juniors Nicole Phillips and Meeka Hewett had a combined 44 kills in the win. The Trojans improved to 8-6 overall and are 7-2 in the Waccamaw Conference.
Next up: West Brunswick will travel up to Leland for a road game at North Brunswick.
Hoggard 8 New Bern 1
Hoggard rolled to an easy 8-1 win over New Bern on Tuesday for its seventh consecutive victory. The Vikings swept singles despite playing without its top two players. Sarah Spaulding won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Lydia Hartley and Caroline Tervo each added 6-1, 6-1 victories at 3 and 5, respectively.
