WILMINGTON—Candidates for North Carolina Governor will headline an upcoming business event in the Port City.

Gubernatorial candidates Democrat Walter Dalton and Republican Pat McCrory will headline the Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s October Power Breakfast Series.

Both candidates will attend and speak at the power breakfast, slated for 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Greater Wilmington Business Journal Publisher Rob Kaiser said McCrory, the former energy executive turned Charlotte mayor, and Dalton, North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor, will each have 30 minutes to address the audience and to answer questions from the audience.

“This will be a great opportunity for voters in the Wilmington region to hear directly from both candidates before North Carolina selects its next governor on Nov. 6,” Kaiser said.

Kaiser expects a crowd of about 600 people for the event.

“You get to come to one event, hear from both candidates and make your own decision,” Kaiser said.

Audiences at the popular breakfast series are typically made up of business owners and executives, lawyers, doctors and bankers—all of whom are directly affected by the decisions of a governor.

“When you look at decisions the governor of North Carolina is going to make, it has influence on the local economy; it has influence on business regulations,” Kaiser said.

The breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 8:15 a.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $350 for a table of 10.
